What is the ‘secret’ invitation only ‘conference’ between Safari Club International (SCI) and South African Government officials about?
This 4 day ‘conference’ (“The African Wildlife Consultative Forum”) meeting is reportedly taking place 8 – 15 November 2015 at a resort near Polokwane, South Africa. No media, not NGOs allowed.
I think we can safely assume it’s not going to be good news for the captive animals (“Bred for the Bullet”) held in ‘canned’ farms. It’s not going to be good news for the remainder of Cecil’s (may he RIP) pride and their continued exposure to the amateur hunting enthusiasts’ blood lust. It could be the hunters’ counter lobby for the CITES Conference of the Parties (CoP17), to keep pushing the myth that hunting and trading in species is the ‘best/only way forward.’
What can you/we do about it? Make your voice of protest heard – petition, campaign and rally, for example:
Petition for Protection of African Lions
“March for Cecil/Lions” – London, 28 November, mid-day Piccadilly (Bomber Command Memorial) to Trafalgar Square
Support Blood Lions, Four Paws, Campaign Against Canned Hunting, The Born Free Foundation and International Wildlife Bond campaigns against ‘Canned’ and Trophy Hunting.
